According to BGR , two developers named Lari Numminen and Jukka Kekalainen originally planned to enhance the user experience of Android OS by creating an app. In the process, they created a new Android phone instead of creating an app. Their first venture was an Android app, which provides a simple user interface for apps that are most-used in a device. Apparently, this particular app was downloaded 10,000 times. But this time around, they created a device instead of an app called Zilta.

US Android Users on Average Engage 138 Minutes Daily with their Smartphones - MarketWatch
The analysis is based on over one million individual application sessions on more than 1500 Android smartphone users in the US during the period. The results are powered by Strategy Analytics' state-of- the-art Consumer Telemetry Platform [ http://strategyanalytics.com/default.aspx?mod=ConsumerTelemetry&m=7 ] by leveraging three core components - a best-in-class telemetry application, an opt-in panel, and big data analytics framework to support rich analysis. Photo - http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20140612/117496 [ http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20140612/117496 ] While Facebook, YouTube and Messaging apps demonstrate category leading performance with over 50% share in total time spent in their respective categories, niche segments such as LifeStyle, Productivity, and News, Weather & Sports are characterized by a broad range of smaller apps - no single publisher dominates the category and thereby presents opportunities for new and inspiring app concepts. Bonny Joy, Chief, Consumer Telemetry Platforms, said: "The three big categories are social, communication, and browsing - together they account for nearly a third of the time spent. Our analysis on the top 25 apps across each of the categories shows games and lifestyle segments are among the most vulnerable in maintaining mindshare as they are quick to come and disappear from our rankings." Barry Gilbert, Vice President, said: "Without doubt time spent on mobile is on the upward trajectory. Our data shows that of the total time spent, the gain is attributed primarily to the increased usage in social, communication and browsing categories." AppOptix addresses the contextual nuances of the consumer behavior through a full-suite of tools, including dashboards, reports, and leading analyst insights on device brands, operators, models, and apps. Microsoft launches Outlook web app for Android smartphones
If you are interested in the beta version of the mail client, then there are some other requirements your device needs to meet. OWA will only work if your mailbox is running on Office 365 for business (doesnt include Office 365 personal, Office 365 Home, or Outlook.com) and your device size is considered small or normal by Android OS (translation: no phablet or tablet support just yet). Microsoft says the pre-release is to gather feedback, fix bugs, and generally make sure the app is ready for general release. Only a few devices can use it now with more being added regularly, according to Microsoft. In fact, you can vote to have your device added on OWA for devices . Despite offering everything you can already do on OWA for iPhone, the Android version of the app does have one additional feature in the form of contact syncing.
